Ride Leader

Q. Do you have a nick name and if you do, what is it and why?
A. Throughout my schooling and working life I was given the rather unimaginative nickname of ‘Hooksy’.

Q. When and how did you get into cycling?
A. A friend of mine passed away about 10 years ago, and some of his work colleagues decided to organise a London to Lands End charity cycle and asked me if I wanted to join them.

Q. What do you like the most about cycling?
A. I love the opportunity to see the countryside and enjoy the company and banter … I hate hills.

Q. Who is your cycling hero?
A. Being new to cycling I suppose the person I admire the most is Bradley Wiggins as he was knocking it out of the park during the 2012 Olympics.

Q. What is your dream bike?
A. I am fortunate enough to be riding it during the summer months 😃. Come out for a spin and you’ll see it!

Q. What has been your proudest or biggest achievement?
A. I am most proud of my wife and kids who are awesome! In cycling parlance my biggest achievement was in the summer of 2020 I did my first 200 miler and then cycled around the UK and Ireland unsupported with a friend and visited all the capital cities (1050 miles in 12 days, 9 days cycling).

Q. Garmin or Wahoo?
A. Garmin.

Q. Shimano or Campagnolo?
A. I have both on different bikes.

Q. What do you love?
A. I love food, cycling means that I am only an XXL not an XXXXL😂.

Q. What do you dislike?
A. I obviously couldn’t wait to tell you my hate as I had to share it at question 3. But I do not enjoy steep hills, they are good for me, but I loathe them!

Q. You are hosting a diner party and you can invite 4 people from the past or present; who would you invite?
A. Jacinda Ardern, Isaac Newton, Neil Armstrong, James Donovan.
