Ride Leader

Q. Do you have a nick name and if you do, what is it and why?
A. Nothing I can repeat and luckily never stuck!

Q. When and how did you get into cycling?
A. I had to quit work suddenly two years ago and started riding then, but really caught the bug during lockdown. No going back now.

Q. What do you like the most about cycling?
A. Noticing more of our lovely countryside. Challenging myself in different ways, be it in distance, elevation, speed, Sportives or Club activities

Q. Who is your cycling hero?
A. My Wife! Since joining NEV, I've passed onto her the new skills I've learnt. We now ride a lot together and from a real Base level of fitness, she has shown grit and determination now consistently riding 2.5mph faster than and few months ago and is conquering steep climbs confidently which previously, she would have had to dismount on. She too is getting the bug!

Q. What is your dream bike?
A. One that will never get a flat and is bright yellow

Q. What has been your proudest or biggest achievement?
A. Doing my first couple of Century rides in this year and getting up Ditching Beacon without stopping

Q. Garmin or Wahoo?
A. Garmin is my friend

Q. Shimano or Campagnolo?
A. Shimano or who?

Q. What do you love?
A. Cake

Q. What do you dislike?
A. Loose Women (the programme) - the others...well...

Q. You are hosting a diner party and you can invite 4 people from the past or present; who would you invite?
A. My late son Sam, Bob Mortimer (Comedian), Dave Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Amelia Earhart (lost pioneering Pilot)
