Ride Leader
Q. Do you have a nick name and if you do, what is it and why?
A. Yes, I do and like all nicknames I was not involved with its creation. It's Lord Suffolk, which is partly due to the county I now leave in and partly, I suspect because I can be quite bossy.
Q. When and how did you get into cycling?
A. I can remember it vividly, the year was 1985 - at the time I was a runner, my brother Roger was a cyclist and suggested I went with him to buy a new bike. The shop was owned by the formidable cycling legend that is Tommy Godwin. Needless to say, we both left with bikes that day and I have never ran from that day onwards (well apart from a bath that is).
Q. What do you like the most about cycling?
A. The 3 F's - Friendship, freedom and fun.
Q. Who is your cycling hero?
A. There are so many heroes that it is imposable to name just the one and I'm struggling to keep it to a small group, if I am pushed, I will say, Tommy Godwin (after all he is the reason why I cycle), Sean Kelly, AKA the King and finally Mark Cavendish.
Q. What is your dream bike?
A. I am fortunate or lucky enough to own it but cannot pin it down to just the one sorry, I have both a Bianchi and a Colnago and love them both in different ways (and yes, they know about each other before you ask).
Q. What has been your proudest or biggest achievement?
A. This has got to be competing in the National 4 up, 100KM Team Time Trials, it brings a smile to my face just thinking back to it.
Q. Garmin or Wahoo?
A. Wahoo of course.
Q. Shimano or Campagnolo?
A. There is not debate its Campagnolo!
Q. What do you love?
A. Pork belly with lashings of apple sauce, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
Q. What do you dislike?
A. Stupidity, in anything or anyway,
Q. You are hosting a diner party and you can invite 4 people from the past or present; who would you invite?
A. Sir Winston Churchill, Barack Obama, Queen Elizbeth, Ronnie Barker.
