New member Victoria had an amazing race over the weekend, she has joined NEV on a couple of TTs and always gets a fab time, she is also an ultra runner extrodanaire so the result on this ironman is not surprising, massive well done, and welcome to the group
Race report by Victoria....
The race was Ironman 70.3 Maastricht in the Netherlands which involved a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run.
There is a cut off for each section and an overall time limit of 8hrs 30mins. The swim in the River Maas was lovely and warm although fighting against the current on the return leg was tough.
The bike course headed out of town for 2 laps on closed roads - the Dutch definitely like their narrow lanes, chicanes and speed bumps which made it pretty technical in some sections. They even managed to find 800m of climbing for us.
The run course was also 2 laps and weaved along the river and through the beautiful Medieval town. It was crammed full of supporters blasting out music and spraying runners down with hosepipes. The races always have a fantastic festival atmosphere - the sunshine definitely helped !
In triathlon you race in Age Groups; I finished 7th in mine in 5hrs 38mins which is much better than I expected given I’ve focused more on running ultras than triathlon this year.
