REBELLION WAY FAIL ride report by Lucy

On Saturday Simon and I set off from Diss with the intention of cycling the Rebellion Way over 3 days.

First day went well with strong tail winds. We veered off the route on Peddar’s Way to stay at parents’ , and then continued on it to the coast (probably the most technical bit with deep, sandy ruts). Lunch at Sandringham probably within a few metres of Sue and John (but didn’t realise). We continued to Holt to stay in a pub for the night rather than the usual ditch.

The third day started well. At 40 miles, in Norwich, we picked up a brilliant track along an old railway line (Marriot Way). Firm surface and slightly downhill, so we made good progress. Unfortunately/fortunately I got a slow puncture after about 22 miles. Estimating we only had 5 miles to go, so looked at the map to see if it was worth mending. That’s when we realised we’d gone completely the wrong way and were nearly back at Holt ( where we had started from 65 miles earlier). For some mysterious reason Simon (who was in charge of navigation) thought that if he clicked on ‘return to start’ the Garmin would magically take us back to the car. I still don’t understand his thought process.

Another 22 (slightly uphill) miles we were back in Norwich.

The only thing that kept my morale up was the thought of posting on here so everyone can take the p*ss out of his epic navigation fail.

After are 44 mile detour, we didn’t have the will to continue the 27 miles to Diss.

Please, please mention this to Simon. It will make the pain and suffering all worthwhile.

Fantastic report Lucy , much much better than Simon's pretty awful nav skillz that's for sure , I'm sure you will not let him forget this one in a hurry lol 🤣🤣 , and am sure the piss will be well and truely taken on EVERY ride he is on henceforth lol , "satnav Simon " has a certain ring to it 🫣😁

Well done , Team NEV

Had a little chuckle reading this. Well done and definitely a ride to talk about (many times)
