What. A . Day
4 ride speeds and various distances all raring to go cos it was a special one , the day we all got to see if Luke actually could organise a p!$$ up in a brewery given his ride lead skills are pretty shoddy (obviously I'll have to take all the many many complaints emails we get about this at face value as I've never been out with him 😉).
The Booking hall carpark was full of excited pre ride chatter the group's were all well attended and off we went on our way , we had new members join within the first half of a ride cos that's how charismatic our Chairman is
2 of our members that I know about hit their highest ever mileage with amazing support from the 15s group , doing well over previous distances, that's what having a good club behind you can do
Then there was a huge meet up at the snug , were armed with wet sweaty envelopes , running ink and pencils with no nibs we got to quizzing “whose knees are these “ , apparently Luke's first idea was given the thumbs down ,🤔🍑👎, now I've never really given knees much attention before but Ann I got yours in split second timing , and everyone seemed to be very good at general kneeledge , however the emoji quiz was pants we were told to think out of the box but even that didn't really help
Anyway quizzes handed back in, cakes eaten drinks done everyone was off again fully refueled and the weird ones among us in a great mood after seeing so many knees in the mid ride stop , I for one think quizzing during rides should catch on ,
Rides done no incidents (ok I have to say that but there prob was a couple of hairy moments )
And off to Legends we all went some of us had time to wear a dress and then Mrs F told Paul now wasn't the time and to put his own clothes on 😱
With Luke smoking everyone out on the BBQ and even the bloody vegans were taken care of food was cracking , so good someone (Dave F , ) was presumably filling up his pockets for the rest of the weekend either that or he has hollow legs !
John S made a fabulous NEV cake and cupcakes and brough sweeties for the lil ones , who to be fair didn't get a look in cos of the big bullies (you know who you are ) fortunately we were able to sugar hype Helen Ms lil angels up before she took them home ..you're welcome
Tony had the pleasure nay honour of cutting the cake honestly I was a bit disappointed as he was given a knife that was clearly for a different purpose given it said Cheese on it but that's something we can improve on next year
Everyone looked like they were having a fab time we even. Got a local TV star to come along and stand next to our sign but he wouldn't do autographs for less than a quid so he got shown the door pretty smartish
There was games in which I was Ian Ds stunt double as team rep fell to me (thanks 😳), there was pink bike TT , thankfully no injuries and there was copious amounts of alcohol consumed (mostly by sarah D )
A fabulous day and night ,
And it should definitely be a yearly thing
Luke and his fabulous wife Helen done us proud , everything was spot on and it's so nice as a club to get together , it just shows that it is one club and although we all may not ride together we know that everyone looking out for each other ,
boy can these pro cyclists party (talking about our champs right there 💪👍😁)
If I missed anything out of this blog I have an excuse (see above re alcohol)
